Michele Messam, CIC, Wooster Community Hospital Infection Preventionist, has been awarded Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).

Certification is obtained by passing an examination which measures knowledge mastery of infection prevention, infection control and epidemiology. Certified CIC professionals must maintain their certification through repeat examinations every five years.

Denise Parker, BSN, MBA, was awarded the designation Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE) at the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) national conference in San Antonio, Texas, on October 23, 2012.

HIMSS Analytics announced Wooster Community Hospital has achieved Stage 6 on the EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM). Wooster Community Hospital (www.woosterhospital.org) is renowned for award-winning care and its wide range of services. HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database.

This week, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) presented Wooster Community Hospital with the “Outstanding Achievement Award" trophy. The WCH Cancer Program was previously awarded Accreditation with Commendation by the CoC, and was notified that it had been awareded the Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA), which recognizes the program further.
