Our Care and Services
The Pulmonary Department at Wooster Community Hospital serves the community in a variety of ways. For patients in the hospital, we monitor oxygen levels, provide aerosol therapy and airway clearance, manage and maintain ventilator support devices (such as Bi-Pep/Cpap and ventilators), and provide education with regard to the patient’s current lung condition.
The Pulmonary Department provides testing on an Outpatient basis as well. Some tests include: Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT), Nitric Oxide Testing (NO), Arterial Blood Gases (ABG), Pulmonary Exercise Testing (PET), and Electrocardiogram (EKG), to name a few. We also offer an individually based 6-session Tobacco Cessation Program for those needing that help.
The Imaging Services Department of Wooster Community Hospital provides diagnostic testing in all areas of Radiology. Each modality has state licensed and registered technologists. Our service area includes Wayne and surrounding counties, therefore we offer services at several locations for convenience. Our radiology services include:
At Wooster Community Hospital, we can treat and test for common problems in our accredited Sleep Disorders Center. Sleep is a natural, and very vital part of our daily routine. It promotes good health, is soothing to the mind, and enables everyone to be productive in work and play. However, more than 25% of Americans suffer from excessive daytime sleepiness from chronic sleep disorders. Sleep disorders can negatively affect the immune system, personality, work performance, lead to serious or fatal health problems including heart disease and high blood pressure.
Anyone who suffers from excessive daytime sleepiness, has trouble falling asleep, maintaining sleep, or disturbs the sleep of others by snoring loudly is a candidate for a sleep evaluation. Common problems include sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, muscle spasms during sleep, and narcolepsy. Accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine assures quality care for patients with sleep disorders. A physician’s referral is necessary for evaluation.
