The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit is where specially trained nurses will care for you as you awaken from the anesthetic. Frequent blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory checks will be done. Nurses will encourage you to take deep breaths and to cough, if permitted, and to move your legs. When recovery criteria are met, you will return to your hospital room. Every effort will be made to make your stay in the PACU as comfortable as possible. |

In your room, your family/support person can rejoin you. The nurses will be checking your blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature from time to time. Dressings, drains, or anything special to your surgery will be monitored. Your activity and diet, as ordered by your doctor, will begin. |
