  1 Some of the illnesses or events that may require inpatient rehabilitation include:

  • Stroke
  • Hip fracture
  • Amputation
  • Neurological disorders (multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, muscular dystrophy, etc.)
  • Rheumatoid and osteoarthritis arthritis

The Wooster Community Hospital Inpatient Rehab Unit implements a team approach to offer:

  • Physical, occupational, speech, and nutrition therapies
  • Social work
  • 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care
  • A Medical Director who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation

Working with each patient and their family, the team designs a highly individualized treatment plan which focuses on potential, not on limitations. The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Wooster Community Hospital is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

- Physical Rehabilitation Services

  • Develop comprehensive rehabilitation treatment plan
  • Provide medical management of risk factors & co-morbidities
  • Lead the multi-disciplinary rehab team to implement early intervention, evaluate optimal outcomes & rehab gains
  • Provide evidence-based intervention based on functional goals(FIM)
  • Prevent complications, minimize impairments, maximize functioning
  • Implement secondary prevention for stroke recurrence
  • Include patient & family / caregivers as part of the rehab team
 
       
       
   

Referrals can be initiated by physicians, patients and their families, discharge planners, and allied health professionals. In addition, a patient's stay on the unit may be covered completely or in part by Medicare or your private insurance.

Progressive Care Unit

Hours of Service: 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

Location: First Floor - East Building

Progressive Care Unit: The 10 bed Progressive Care Unit at Wooster Community Hospital is a highly specialized facility. Equipment within the Progressive Care Unit monitors heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure, respirations and specialized catheter readings. For patients requiring breathing therapy, the Progressive Care Unit has specialized equipment readily available.

Telemetry Unit

Hours of Service: 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

Location: Second Floor - East Building

Telemetry Unit: Patients are placed on the Telemetry floor so that their doctor may evaluate their chest pain and/or heart pattern, regulate medications, or monitor a patient's recovery following a heart attack. The Telemetry Unit at Wooster Community Hospital has 16 beds and is located on the patient tower second floor. It is a special area that allows patients to be active while wearing a small heart monitor.
