What is the role of a Hospitalist?

Your primary care physician has asked a group of physicians - Hospitalists - to care for you. Our Hospitalists take care of only hospitalized patients so they are always available to respond to any changes in your condition, order medical tests and answer questions from you and your family. By using our Hospitalist program, it enables your primary care physician to be available to you in the office, while the Hospitalist is always available to you at the hospital. The physicians in our Hospitalist program practice exclusively in the hospital, so it is easier for you and your family to communicate with the Hospitalists and for them to treat your illness.

When will I see the Hospitalist?

Our Hospitalist program offers patients around the clock care by our Physicians - seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Since our physicians have no medical practices outside of the hospital, they are specially trained to provide care for only you - the hospitalized patient.

What are the benefits of a Hospitalist program?

Since Hospitalists work only at Wooster Community Hospital, they can arrange for immediate tests & assessments and follow up on those results. They personally know every specialist and department in the hospital and are in contact with the patient and family to answer questions.

Who Is at Risk?

Sometimes when you want it the least, your body needs it the most.  When you feel tired, worn out and stressed out, the last thing you feel like doing is driving down to your health club for an intense workout.  The fact is, this is exactly what you should do. 1
