Announcement below regarding Influenza and hospital visits-

Dear Patient/Family/Visitors:

Wooster Community Hospital staff recognizes the importance of visitation to our patients.  However, there may be times when a visit could jeopardize a patient’s recovery by transmission of illness. To assure patient safety, we need to take preventive steps.  Flu season is a time when our patients are susceptible and we need to ask for cooperation from our visitors.

Due to the High incidence of Influenza in our community, we have recognized the need to limit all visitations within our hospitals in an effort to protect our patients’ well-being.

Many hospitals in this area are asking for visitor assistance in following these flu season guidelines:

Only healthy immediate family members over the age of 14 will be permitted to visit with patients. (Children are capable of transmitting the flu virus for some time before onset of illness.)

People experiencing fever, chills, headache, cough, sore throat, and/or muscle aches are contagious. We ask these visitors to contact the patient after they have been discharged home.

Please understand that this decision is a united effort of all area hospitals taking a step for patient safety.  We apologize if this may cause any inconvenience to you; however, our intentions are in the best interest of our patients.  We do appreciate your patience and understanding.

In good health,

Wooster Community Hospital
