Infection Prevention Certification

Michele Messam, CIC, Wooster Community Hospital Infection Preventionist, has been awarded Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).

Certification is obtained by passing an examination which measures knowledge mastery of infection prevention, infection control and epidemiology. Certified CIC professionals must maintain their certification through repeat examinations every five years.

Women of Achievement Awards Brunch

The Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary The Awards Brunch will be held on Friday, November 16th at 11:30 a.m. in the Wooster Community Hospital Auditorium. Tickets are $12.00 per person, and you may call 330-263-8299 to register. This will be the 18th year for the awards.

The Women of Achievement Award recognizes women representing a lifetime of service and excellence, and the Wooster Community Hospital Auxiliary is proud to present the 2012 Women of Achievement Award.

WCH Named 5-Star Hospital

Wooster Community Hospital has again been named a Community Value 5-StarTM Hospital by Cleverley & Associates for the 7th consecutive year, and the 8th out of the last 9 years. The Community Value Index (CVI) was created to provide a measure of the value that a hospital provides to its community. The CVI is composed of 10 measures that assess a hospital’s performance in 4 core areas: 1. Financial viability and plant reinvestment 2. Hospital cost structure 3. Hospital charge structure 4. Hospital quality performance.

HIMSS Analytics Honors Wooster Community Hospital with Stage 6 Recognition

HIMSS Analytics announced Wooster Community Hospital has achieved Stage 6 on the EMR Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM). Wooster Community Hospital ( is renowned for award-winning care and its wide range of services. HIMSS Analytics developed the EMR Adoption Model in 2005 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of electronic medical record systems for hospitals in the HIMSS Analytics™ Database.

WCH presented with Outstanding Achievement Award

This week, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) presented Wooster Community Hospital with the “Outstanding Achievement Award" trophy. The WCH Cancer Program was previously awarded Accreditation with Commendation by the CoC, and was notified that it had been awareded the Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA), which recognizes the program further.
