Therapist-Led Pregnancy and Postpartum Mental Health Support Group
Wooster Community Hospital is proud to offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space to help you navigate the emotional and psychological changes of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. Led by a licensed therapist, this 8-week group blends empathetic support with evidence-based tools to help you manage anxiety, depression, mood shifts, stress, and the many transitions of this life stage.
Through guided discussion, evidence-based strategies, and shared connection, participants will gain:
- A better understanding of the emotional impact of pregnancy and postpartum
- Practical coping techniques for managing stress, overwhelm, and mood changes
- A sense of connection and reduced feelings of isolation by connecting with others in similar experiences
- Guidance on identity shifts, relationship changes, and realistic self-care in early parenthood
- Access to mental health resources and support as needed
Weekly Topics
Each week, we will cover a different group topic, including:
- What to Expect: Meet your facilitator and group, review goals and the 8-week roadmap, and receive a brief introduction to the perinatal period (pregnancy–18 months postpartum).
- You, Your Changing Body, & Self-Acceptance
- Understanding & Identifying a Pregnancy or Postpartum Mental Health Diagnosis
- Stress Management throughout Pregnancy & Postpartum
- Navigating Identity and Role Changes During Pregnancy and Postpartum
- Maintaining Healthy & Supportive Relationships in the Transition to Parenthood
- Attachment Post-Partum & The Importance of Bonding in the First 2 Years
- The Next Chapter: Return to work vs. staying home, maintaining balance & self-care long-term, as well as information on additional resources
Who it’s for
This group is open to women from early pregnancy to 18 months postpartum. No diagnosis required to join.
