The Baxter production facility in North Carolina, which supplies 85% of Ohio hospitals with IV solutions, was severely affected by Hurricane Helene. This has led to a significant reduction in IV fluid supplies, potentially delaying surgeries at WCH. Hospital leadership is actively implementing mitigation strategies to adapt to the situation and maintain exceptional care for our community.

CT Scan

CT Scan

A computed tomography (CT) scan is a diagnostic imaging technique that utilizes several different angles of advanced x-ray technology to produce cross-sectional images of the bones, blood vessels, and tissues within the body. CT Scans are often performed with a positron emission tomography (PET) scan to create a sophisticated, noninvasive diagnostic study of the biochemistry and physiologic function of the human body. These images are more detailed than traditional X-ray imaging and provide our board-certified doctors with a full-spectrum view of your condition. CT scans, although performed in a tight space, are generally painless and a comfortable experience for most of our patients.

With the aid of computer processing, images are created showing organs, vessels, and body tissues with great clarity. Wooster Community Hospital uses state-of-the-art technology with our high-definition HD scanner.

Comprehensive CT Scan Services

CT scans are most commonly used in conjunction with a PET scan to produce detailed images of the inside of the human body. In addition to the high speed and quality images produced by the scanner, cardiac studies, vessel analysis, and 3D reconstructions can also be performed.

A CT scan is useful for diagnosing any number of conditions, including:

  • Cancers, including lung cancer screening
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Infectious disease
  • Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, and joint) disorders
  • Diseases of the bowel and colon
  • Lung disorders
  • Brain diseases
  • Sinus and nasal problems

The list above is by no means comprehensive. If you or your doctor believe you would benefit from a CT scan and/or PET scan, we encourage you to reach out to our team members at your earliest convenience.

Scheduling a CT Scan

CT services are offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the hospital for emergency and inpatient care; however, diagnostic studies require scheduling in advance. To schedule an outpatient CT scan, we encourage you to call central scheduling at (330) 263-8660. One of our dedicated team members will be happy to assist you over the phone Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 5:30 pm.

Monday through Friday, 7 am – 6 pm

Prior to your CT scan appointment at Wooster Community Hospital, one of our compassionate staff members may try to reach out to you to provide you with additional information about the location of your CT scan and detailed instructions for preparing for your CT scan appointment.

If you do not hear from one of our team members within a week of your appointment, feel free to reach out to us at your earliest convenience. At this time, we also encourage our patients to ask any questions you may have about your upcoming scan and appointment.
